Proof that users will click on virtually anything — behavior that hackers depend on — has been laid out by a researcher, whose Google ad touted instant infection. More than 400 clicked through.In a six-month experiment by security researcher Didier Stevens, some users weren't warned off by a Google sponsored link that read:

Drive-By Download
Is your PC virus-free?
Get it infected here!

Of the 259,723 times the ad was viewed, it was clicked on 409 times, said Stevens.

NYPD Starts Using Segways

About 25 members of the NYPD have been trained to use the Police Department's 10 new Segways, which will hit Coney Island, Central Park, Prospect Park, Orchard Beach, the Bronx Zoo and Flushing Meadows-Corona Park beginning this week, according to the NY Daily News.

A small software company, apparently comprised of the clinically insane, has made a program that runs on your computer and flashes motivational message at you at super high speeds throughout the day as you work.  The theory being that these subliminal messages can make you smarter, richer, and better-looking.

The starting bid for this 16-acre island off the coast of Machiasport, Maine is $795,000.Ram Island has been designated, along with most of the other uninhabited islands along the Maine coast, as a bird nesting island — and it's true! Sea gulls do nest on the island. And live there too. Along with the gulls are cormorants, ducks, hawks and eagles, and small birds like swallows, sparrows and terns. Because of this nesting designation you cannot build during nesting season, which is May and June. This is the only restriction placed upon use of the island due to the designation.
