Imagine open and unfettered high-speed wireless access to the Internet from anywhere in the nation. The time is approaching quickly where wireless Internet access will be as ubiquitous as Cell phones, and will make an equally impressive impact on our culture. Although there are solutions for Internet on-the-go today, they are clumsy attempts at best. Sprint Nextel is working to beat everybody to the punch, and will probably be the first to roll out such a service, which will be called Xohm. The technology used is called "WiMax", if you're curious. If you're still curious, more details are included in this article- follow the link:

Many people were surprised to find that their new computers which were supposed to be "Windows Vista Capable", are only able to run a handicapped version of the operating system, missing many of the bells and whistles that are supposed to make Windows Vista superior to its predecessor, Windows XP. If you're buying a new computer with Vista, make sure you get enough horsepower- Vista can be painfully slow if your computer is too weak to handle it.
A judge has ruled that a trial against Microsoft can proceed to decide whether they misled people with their "Vista Capable" advertising campaign. Two PC buyers have started a class action, and are arguing that they bought machines that weren't capable of running Aero, even though they were marked as "Vista Capable."

Yesterday, Apple announced the launch of its latest iMac- with a sleeker, aluminum design, and glossy screen. It now looks right at home next to your new iPhone. They do look great, and with their improved performance, pack a great value for the price.
Built from aluminum and glass, the new all-in-one desktops feature a complete, slimmer redesign and will come in two sizes: 20-inch and 24-inch. There's the usual compliment of ports like USB 2.0, Firewire 400 / 800, a slot loading SuperDrive, iSight camera and so forth.

From PC World:
An airplane is the last haven where you can read a book and not feel guilty about shunning all of your email or being incommunicado. Well, add American to the mix of airlines looking to change that. The company has teamed up with AirCell, and plans are underway to start testing in-flight WiFi on planes in the U.S.

One recent series of revelations have come about, questioning the security risks involved with using the much-heralded iPhone. Apple is excellent at keeping the press positive, so it's worth reading up on this to get the full picture:
The iPhone's vulnerability to attack was underscored last week, when software researchers at Independent Security Evaluators in Baltimore demonstrated how an attacker could plant software on a Web page that would seize control of any iPhone that visited the page.

Courtesy of David Pogue of the New York Times:
The price of home phone service has dropped 30 percent since 1999. Surely, sayeth the analysts, that trend line will eventually plummet all the way to zero. Surely, thanks to the Internet's ability to carry your voice, landline phone calls will soon be free.
